My first finished college garment was a dress based on the theme of gluttony in my design semantics class. I had to take into account one of the seven deadly sins and from the one I chose construct a garment of my choice from it. When looking at gluttony the first thing that comes to my mind is having too much of something. From this I decided to have a dress with a lot of colour and pattern on the front but have a plain black back to draw back in the dull destructive side because to me I see gluttony as a negative thing. I then added fringing to the bottom of the dress to have even more going on. I now feel that my dress has came together successfully and is a garment that straight away signifies gluttony.
